Two Pack Epoxy High Gloss Topcoat for a High Gloss Finish
Why do we apply topcoats to our precious metal when most of the substrate’s protection comes from the primer and mid-coats? Topcoats are applied for several reasons, including choice of colour, choice of sheen (gloss), and adding an extra level of protection to the previous coats.
Rustbuster Protect UVR is superior to other epoxy topcoats in that it offers a higher level of colour quality and sheen retention. Unlike traditional epoxies and conventional paints, this colour and sheen won’t fade over time and exposure to UV light. Traditional epoxies tend to chalk over time when exposed to UV light and lighter colours can yellow when hidden from UV light. It’s a tricky balancing act! Well, not any more, as Protect UVR is both UV stable and non-yellowing.
Protect UVR is an extremely high performance two pack high gloss VOC compliant epoxy acrylic finish, providing an excellent topcoat for any of our epoxy primer systems, including EM121, Custom 421, Zinc Rich Epoxy Anode etc. This topcoat can be used over them all.
The standard colour is black but you can enquire about any other colour in RAL or BS standard colours.

Pot life | Pot life is the time from mixing the two components to the point at which the mixed paint is no longer usable. You have 2.5 hours of pot life once mixed at 20c – longer at colder temperatures. |
Shelf life | We recommend storing upside down in a dry place at around 20c. In these conditions, the product has a shelf life of 12 months.
Do not store below 20c as this can affect performance. |
Disposal | Allow the mix to cure in your mixing cup and throw it away as dry waste. |
Cleaning | Clean up with standard thinner or gun wash. Do not thin the paint with standard thinner as this will affect the paint cure. |
Safety | This is a solvent-borne paint and care should be taken to avoid spray mist or vapour as well as contact between the wet paint and exposed skin and eyes. Avoid at all times inhalation of the spray mist by using a vapour cartridge respirator. Use suitable protective clothing, a spray suit, gloves and goggles. |
