Our Comprehensive Selection of Light Oils for Rust Proofing and Restoring Of  Colour

If you do not want to use a heavy grease or wax type of rust proofing, or need to be able to wipe off easily, then using an oil-based thin film rustproofer is the answer. Light oils can also be used as an extender or thinner to certain coatings to improve the flow and penetration by lowering the surface tension of an oil-based coating.

We have several light oil products, each with its own purpose and specific use. Feel free to ask for more information.

Owatrol Oil

Owatrol oil can be used neat to protect rusty substrates, drying to a flexible dry-to-the-touch film. Use also as a penetrating primer, particularly when injected into cavities. Corroded steel primed with Owatrol oil can be overpainted. Can also be added to oil-based paints to aid penetration and flow: the removal of surface tension from the coating will improve its rust inhibiting abilities.

Polytrol Oil

Polytrol oil will restore the colour of dull and faded surfacescaused by exposure to rain, sunlight and pollution. This deeply penetrating oil will restore the original colour to gelcoat, plastic and metal. Polytrol will also protect against corrosion and blemishes.

Fluid Film

When used as a penetrating or surface treatment, Fluid Film forms a very durable barrier – even to salt water. Fluid Film can be applied to delicate equipment and is easily removed when required. Available in aerosol or bulk containers. Non-drying transparent yellow film.

Corrolan Penetrator

A very light oil thin film rust proofing penetrator made from sustainable lanolin oil. Use to penetrate seams and steel interfaces, either as a stand-alone product or as part of the Corrolan system. Clear non-drying self-repairing film. Also excellent for releasing corroded steel and aluminium components.

WD40

WD-40 is an all-purpose liquid for displacing moisture, corrosion control, lubrication, cleaning and penetration. It can penetrate the minute grain boundaries on all metals. Although not essentially a lubricant, WD-40 is regularly used to lubricate all light machinery and electrical equipment, and penetrates stuck or jammed parts.
