Unlike basic air-drying zinc coatings, Rustbuster Cold Galvanising Paint features a reactive binder system with a chemical curing mechanism. This means it doesn’t rely solely on environmental drying — instead, it actively cures to create a tough, adhesive film that offers greater durability and resistance to mechanical wear.

When applied to properly prepared steel, the zinc-rich layer provides galvanic (sacrificial) protection — the zinc corrodes in place of the steel, shielding it from rust and ensuring long-term performance.

Understanding Binder Types and Zinc Levels

In zinc coatings, the term “Type 1” or “Type 2” refers to the binder chemistry:

• Type 1 (Organic) uses epoxy or similar binders for flexibility and strong adhesion.

• Type 2 (Inorganic) uses silicate binders, offering very high zinc loading but less flexibility.
